| Comments: | These guys bring back memories of early R&B groups, as well as the "British Blues Invasion" bands (which hit the US shores in the mid-sixties). Lead vocalist Terry Sullivan has a raspy voice that even the youthful Rod Stewart would have envied. Listen to "All or Nothing," a powerful heart felt-ballad. It has what the current music scene is sadly lacking: soul.
"Message Understood"(one of two live cuts), epitomizes the very heart of Wilson Pickett's "Heard It Through The Grapevine." Their rendition of "Sweet Soul Music" captures the spirit of the original Motown classic. Give "Down , Down Down" a spin, and you'll swear you're listening to The Yardbirds. "So Rude" includes some compelling guitar by David Galt, which will work you up to a fevered pitch. He is backed by a solid rhythm section composed of Ian Frase(bass) and John Kane(drums).

| Comments: | The only Rough aspect of The Chevrons Rough and Ready is the quality of the recording on some of the tracks, the live songs in particular. Other than that I found the album a pleasure to listen to. Kicking off with Down Down Down was a good idea since it's certainly the catchiest of the songs and one of the best originals on the album.
The Chevrons Rough and Ready had me boogying around my bedroom and at one stage my mum even joined in! Its an upbeat happy vibes album that I'd be inclined to listen to when I'm getting ready to go out in a Saturday night with my girlfriends. Message Understood and Hurt Me Baby also prove that they can kick it live. I'm certain that their classic rock meets soul blues vibe is better suited to the stage that a studio but Rough and Ready gives a flattering taster of what audiences can expect.

This great album will certainly get you tapping a toe. If you like Status Quo, Tina Turner,Otis Redding and the Stones you are going to be a happy bunny with this baby. Should I tell my dad he has competition ?

THE CHEVRONS Stripes Bar, Brentford Friday 23rd April 2004
Sadly a low turnout after some very healthy attendance’s over the past
few weeks at Stripes.
The Chevrons play a mix of blues, soul and rock ’n’
roll covers mixed with some of their own fine original material. A four
piece with a tight sound and a big, heavy rock drum sound. They started with
Creedence’s ‘Proud Mary’, then proceeded to lay down their own versions of
such classics as ‘Get Off My Cloud’ (the Stones), ‘All or Nothing’ (Small
Faces) and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ – a true delight, made more
so that one guitarist managed to cover the sound of three! They alsoo laid
down some blistering rock ‘n’ roll standards and a few blues standards ‘I
Just Wanna Make Love To You’. The Chevrons own material is of high standard
mixing an r‘n’b sound (proper r’n’b not this cack in the charts today!) with
a rock rhythm. By the end of the set they had the audience in the palm of
their hands and encored with Rod Stewart’s ‘Maggie May’ and the Stones
‘Honky Tonk Woman’. Vocalist Terry Sullivan has style somewhere between Rod
Stewart (pre-80’s), Joe Cocker and the late, great Steve Marriott. Good,
strong range and ideally suited to the songs that make-up the set.
Next time they play near you get along as you’re in for a night of well
played blues, rock & soul.

Basically were a group of students in Middlesex uni, north London, studying film and TV production looking for new and upcoming bands to showcase there talents on a live studio record music magazine show. The first show is to be filmed on Friday October the 17th, and were looking for a band to be filmed live with performance based material ( Two tracks) and a brief interview. If your interested in this and would like to find out more please reply to this email, a full copy of the show on video or other formats will be gladly given as a way of thank you and it will also be an excellent opportunity to have some record live footage? | After a gig, drummer Mick Miller drove the van at alarmly fast speed. Concerned band members asked what the problem was. His reply was to reach the Kebab shop before it closes. To Mick's relief(and ours) we made it just in time.
