Have since discovered that the DJ is called Glen and plays some great stuff, generates a great party atmosphere with the music and the Karaoke on a Sunday is a guy called Johnny Goodman who is fantastic too, no other entertainment like it in Enfield if you ask me and I have seen a few pubs!!

A great pub, great atmosphere and everyone welcome provided you have respect for everyone else in there and just want a good night out!! Great Dj in there playing everything from 50's to date and themed nights, Karaoke on a sunday is brilliant and also excellent live bands weekly. The landlord is fantastic and takes no crap. You will hardly ever see trouble in the lion, everyone looks out for everyone else and if someone does cause a problem or tries ruining the atmosphere, you wont see them in there again. 0 tolerance policy on drugs, no chavs and on Fridays and Saturdays rare to see under 21's. Its THE best and safest pub on the high road. Give it a try and has been said try the Mehek curry house opposite.

Decent pub with good beer and a nice convivial atmosphere. Prices not cheap but reasonable in comparison to other pubs in the area. Makes an effort to put on entertainment and is full of comfy seating. Smallish beer garden for summer drinking. It is largely trouble free which is a distinct advantage for a pub in this neck of the woods. Somehow, though the pub is good, it never seems to inspire me to return on a regular basis and lacks that vital "X" factor that distinguishes a nice or good pub from a truly great pub, if i ever figure out what that difference is I will find a way to bottle it and be a millionaire(woo-hah-hah!). Worth dropping in for a pint if you are in the area, and the occasional visit for locals. As HartleyHare rightly spotted the Mehec Indian restaurant across the road is brilliant so why not pop into the Red Lion for a pint before and after a top notch curry?

Lovely pub since being taken over by new management. Good beer and excellent staff mean it is one of the few nice pubs in a pretty rough area.

Great curry house opposite too.
